1. BBQ Glazed Short Rib on Smoked Corn from Chop Shop 66 Haymarket, London SW1Y 4RF
I've never been to Texas but i'm imagining that a Texan cowboy lives off meals like this as the BBQ glaze exudes smoky campfire flavour beautifully but the piece de resistance of the dish comes from the smoked corn. Wowsers!
A lovely sauce coated the nice juicy pieces of lobster and pasta with plenty of tarragon although disappointed with portion size that was billed as being served in a half shell although was more like a quarter.
3. Suckling Pig with Mustard from Artusi 161 Bellenden Road, London SE15 4DH
A very tasty hunk of crispy piggy with gorgeous salted skin served with a mustard dressing and on a refreshing bed of celery. Beautiful!
4. Belgraves Burger with Ogleshield Cheese, Truffle Mayo, Onion Chutney and Crispy Onion Rings from Pont St 20 Chesham Place, London SW1X 8HQ
This was our dish of the day by far and can lay claim to be the best burger we've consumed so far. Chef Sophie Michell told us it was the best burger at the festival and happily for us she was right.
The meat was top notch, two different onion elements with different textures and tastes made every mouthful a different experience. The cheese beautifully melted onto the meat and then the gorgeous truffle in the mayo was the winning punch. Can't wait to eat a full sized one!
5. Salted Peanut Butter Cheesecake from Barbecoa One New Change, 20 New Change, London EC4M 9AG
The best dessert of the day goes to this dish although slight trading standards issue in that it didn't resemble a cheesecake at all. If it was called a Peanut Butter & Jelly Eton Mess then it would have been more fitting.
Lovely nutty flavour in a huge swirl of cream with bits of biscuit floating through and then a nice hit of fruit when you got down to the sour cherries.
