With pre-conceptions of thinking meat would form part of every dish we were pleasantly surprised to see crab, squid and asparagus choices for starters. There's smokehouse rillettes and Iberico pork ribs aswell so never fear.
We however opted to go straight to mains with an array of side dishes as there was a good varied choice. Piglet went for the beefy rib ('Ten Hour Beef Shortrib with Kimchi') and funnily enough i went for the piggy rib ('8 Hour Bacon Rib with Maple & Chilli'). The best side award goes to the 'Sausage Stuffed Onion' without a doubt. Such a great concept. All are pictured below.
Maybe being biased but i thought the bacon rib had even more flavour with the smoky comforting glaze with chilli kick and chargrilled pineapple. Extremely posh ham and pineapple in essence. On first sight you think compared to the beef rib that there isn't alot of meat but the quality is so good and rich that it satisfies nicely.
The onion stuffed with sausage is something i will try to recreate at home. A slightly hollowed out large red onion then packed with wonderfully seasoned sausage meat and then a rich meaty gravy poured over. Delicious.
The other side we sampled was the 'Beef Dripping Potatoes with Chipotle Bravas' which while tasty, would have been better suited to our mains without the bravas sauce.
As we had foregone starters there was room for dessert so piglet had the 'Elvis Presley Sandwich' (no, it wasn't a cheeseburger!) which was two candied brioche toasts sandwiching vanilla ice cream and peanut butter sauce. I opted for 'Chocolate Orange Delight' which was sumptous, runny chocolate oranges melted into a vintage glass.
Another visit is required here to focus on the starters, other cuts of meat and all the other wonderful side dishes.
This Little Piggy approves.
