All in all a good produce sampling day out.
So as the Christmas season approaches, so do all the festive food festivals and this year the destination was The Ideal Home Show at Christmas, Earls Court, London. We know this is a great venue as the Great British Beer Festival has been held here for many years but the decor was even better than imagined. The whole of the entrance was faux snowed up with pines and santa in his sleigh. Paul McCartney was blaring out to tell everone he was simply having a wonderful Christmastime. We trotted around and perused a good portion of the downstairs stalls which was gift and home based and then we travelled up into the heavens to the food and drink section. One side was lined with stalls doing demonstrations of kitchen gadgets which then led into the produce section. You knew you were coming up to a stall issuing freebie samples as the crowd would be gridlocked. Particular favourite stalls were: Red Leg Spiced Rum, Agrie Italian Olive Oils, Canary Rum & other flavoured spirits (Apple Pie Vodka and Caramel vodka stood out) and The Truckle Cheese Co (home of the infamous cheddar & chocolate block). Believe me, that sounds disturbing but it's a taste to behold.
All in all a good produce sampling day out.
