A brand new weekly feature from This Little Piggy highlighting the top foods consumed that week & where you can enjoy them too!
Deep Fried Snickers - Bene's Fish & Chip Shop, Edinburgh EH8
Thin & crispy batter encased an oozing Snickers which was a gorgeous late night sweet snack on the way back from the pub! They had a nice array of other choc bars to choose from & you can also take your own in! When in Scotland......
Crispy Lamb's Tongue with Truffle & Lemon Mayo - Back in 5 Minutes part of Disappearing Dining Club, Brick Lane, London E1
Beautifully cooked cut of meat which is easy to overcook but this was tender, seasoned perfectly and fried in breadcrumbs. It was presented in very much a standard tongue shape (long with a little cheeky curl at the end) which briefly put off one piglet but once the truffle & lemon mayo was applied to the meat, the flavour was enough to help her finish it.
Steak, Bacon & Brewdog 5am Saint Ale Pie - Pieminister, Leather Lane Market, London EC1N
Cooking with beer is a fave pastime of Piggy MD so it was the easiest choice to make when we visited the Pieminister stall. It surpassed my expectations with buttery yet sturdy pastry, generous chunks of meat all chunkily swimming in a rich ale gravy which was like drinking a fine ale at the same time as munching beautiful meat. Exceedingly good pies!
Black Pudding Scotch Egg - Pieminister, Leather Lane Market, London EC1N
This intriguing substitute for the bog standard sausage meat just had to be tried and was delicious as expected. It has a good yet not too overpowering black pudding flavour so a top snack for anytime of day.
Iced Peanut Butter & Chocolate Slice with Chocolate Crumble and Salted Caramel - Skylon, London, SE1
It was an impressive dinner and was hard to choose a particular course to feature but thought this tied up the week as it was a frozen version of a Snickers as opposed to a deep fried one! My only complaint was that it needed more salted caramel sauce....there can never be enough!
Tune in next week to see where we've been truffling!
